Substation Projects (Up to 132kV) – Location: Cambridge (projects across East Anglia & surrounding regions). Salary: Up to £65,000 + Car / Car Allowance.

Are you an experienced Power Site Manager with a strong background in HV substation delivery? This is a key opportunity to lead major new-build and refurbishment projects up to 132kV, working on long-term DNO/IDNO frameworks across East Anglia. You’ll join a well-established contractor with a strong pipeline of work, offering stability, progression, and the chance to take ownership of technically challenging and high-value power infrastructure schemes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day site operations across HV substation projects
  • Manage civils and electrical teams, subcontractors, and direct labour
  • Oversee works on 11kV, 33kV, 66kV, and 132kV infrastructure
  • Ensure compliance with RAMS, CDM, and company safety procedures
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, and DNO/IDNO representatives
  • Maintain site documentation, audits, and progress reporting
  • Drive programme delivery, quality standards, and cost control
  • Lead site briefings, inductions, and toolbox talks

Project Types & Technical Scope

  • Voltage Levels: Up to 132kV, including 11kV, 33kV, 66kV, 132kV
  • Assets & Infrastructure: HV/LV switchgear; Transformers; Protection & Control systems; Cable routes (ducting, trenching, joint bays, reinstatement); Substation builds (new build & refurbishment); Associated civils and electrical packages
  • Frameworks: DNO/IDNO power distribution frameworks; Network reinforcement, new connections, and asset replacement schemes

Required Qualifications & Tickets

  • EUSR / SHEA Power
  • CSCS / ECS
  • SMSTS (preferred) or SSSTS
  • First Aid
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • (Desirable) Experience working under DNO safety rules or holding authorisations
  • (Advantageous) Previous Site Manager experience on HV substations

Travel & Working Pattern

  • Base: Cambridge
  • Travel Radius: East Anglia and surrounding regions
  • Nights Away: As required; all standard company allowances and accommodation provided
  • Working Hours: Operational site hours
  • Weekends: Only by prior agreement
  • On-Call: None expected
