Join our vibrant team as a Landscape Gardener/Grounds Maintenance operative and play a vital role in creating and sustaining beautiful, healthy outdoor environments. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work outdoors, applying your gardening, horticulture, and landscaping skills to maintain diverse landscapes. You will be responsible for ensuring that gardens, lawns, and green spaces are thriving and visually appealing, contributing to the overall aesthetic and health of our outdoor areas.
If you're passionate about gardening and landscape maintenance, this role provides a dynamic environment where your expertise makes a real impact. You'll be working for a busy and expanding garden maintenance and landscaping company, carrying out domestic and commercial grounds maintenance and landscaping projects. We are based in Newport and cover the surrounding areas of Usk, Raglan, Abergavenny, Cardiff, Caldicot and Chepstow; therefore, you'll need a clean driving licence.
- Maintain flower beds, shrubs, trees, and other plantings through pruning, trimming, planting, and watering.
- Operate hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruners, and hoes to carry out planting and maintenance activities efficiently.
- Use power tools like hedge trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, and lawn equipment safely and effectively.
- Implement irrigation systems maintenance including inspecting for leaks or clogs and adjusting watering schedules to optimise plant health.
- Conduct landscape maintenance tasks that include weed control, soil preparation, mulching, and pest management to ensure vibrant landscapes.
- Proven experience in gardening, horticulture, landscaping or related fields.
- Ability to operate hand tools and power tools safely while maintaining efficiency in outdoor work environments.
- Strong understanding of plant growth requirements and landscape maintenance best practices.
- Physical stamina to perform outdoor tasks in various weather conditions; excellent attention to detail combined with a proactive approach to landscape care.
- Identify and address plant health issues, providing solutions to enhance garden aesthetics.
- Communicate effectively with team members and clients to understand project requirements.
- Drive to different job sites, ensuring timely completion of landscaping tasks.
