About the Role
Distinction Education is delighted to be recruiting for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Worcester. We are looking for a compassionate and patient SEND Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a wonderful child in Year 3 with autism. This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, starting in September and initially running until the end of December. There is a strong likelihood that the role will be extended beyond December for the right candidate, making this an excellent long-term opportunity.
The child is a pleasure to work with, is eager to learn and enjoys being part of the classroom. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting their learning, encouraging independence, promoting positive social interactions and helping them access the curriculum in a way that meets their individual needs. Working closely with the class teacher and the school's SENDCo, you will provide consistent one-to-one support, helping to create a calm, positive and inclusive learning environment where the child can thrive both academically and personally. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys building positive relationships and making a genuine difference to a child's educational journey within a supportive and caring school community.
What You'll Need
- Previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs, particularly Autism (ASD), is desirable.
- Experience working within a primary school or similar educational setting.
- A calm, patient and nurturing approach.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to adapt learning and support strategies to meet individual needs.
- A genuine passion for helping children develop confidence and achieve their full potential.
