Interim AP Transformation Specialist Leicester | Interim Project | Minimum 3 Months
Are you an experienced Accounts Payable / P2P specialist who enjoys walking into a business, understanding what is not working and then making it better? I am recruiting for an established business looking for an experienced AP Transformation Specialist to join its Finance function and help review, streamline and improve its existing Accounts Payable processes and systems. This is a newly created project, so it is not a traditional AP operational role. You will have the opportunity to step back from the day-to-day and use your experience to look at the bigger picture, identify what is not working and help shape how the AP function operates going forward. You will be given the opportunity to walk into an existing AP environment, understand the current processes, identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks, and then help put practical improvements in place. You will be able to use your knowledge across AP, P2P, process improvement, automation, systems, controls and workflow, with genuine scope to influence the direction of the project. It is particularly attractive for someone who enjoys solving problems rather than simply managing them. You will have the autonomy to ask questions, challenge existing processes, identify better ways of working and, importantly, see your recommendations translated into real improvements. You will also gain valuable transformation experience across the wider Finance function, working with stakeholders and helping to improve the way people, processes, systems and controls work together.
The role will involve:
- Reviewing existing AP and P2P processes
- Identifying bottlenecks and unnecessary manual activity
- Looking at automation opportunities
- Reviewing workflows and approval processes
- Identifying opportunities to improve controls and reporting
- Root cause analysis
- Streamlining invoice and supplier processes
- Developing and prioritising practical improvements
- Implementation of agreed changes
- Working with Finance stakeholders and the existing AP team
- Helping establish more efficient and sustainable ways of working
About you:
- You will have strong Accounts Payable and/or P2P experience, combined with genuine experience of transformation, process improvement or optimisation.
- You will ideally have experience across: AP process transformation, Process improvement and optimisation, AP automation, Systems optimisation, Workflow improvement, Root cause analysis, Process redesign, Improving controls and consistency, Finance systems and technology, Lean / Six Sigma or similar improvement methodologies.
Minimum 3-month interim project Competitive daily or hourly rate, depending on experience and scope Hybrid working, generally 2 days in the office Flexible working hours
