An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Interim Finance Business Partner to provide commercial and financial leadership across a growing projects division and engineering business unit. This role will play a key part in enhancing financial control, forecasting, and visibility during a period of significant transformation and integration.
Working closely with operational and commercial leaders, the successful candidate will bring structure, insight, and business partnership to drive improved financial performance and informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities- Strengthen the month-end and management reporting process, ensuring timely and accurate financial insights
- Redesign forecasting and management accounting models to support integration and better alignment with operational delivery
- Provide detailed variance analysis and performance commentary to senior stakeholders
- Review project profitability, cost-to-complete forecasts, and revenue recognition to ensure commercial accuracy
- Develop and embed processes for WIP, accruals, and deferred revenue reporting
- Lead the improvement of labour-based recognition models and margin reporting within the engineering division
- Support the creation of a robust project review framework and monthly reporting discipline
- Partner with operations and commercial teams to enhance forecasting, cost control, and accountability
- Act as a trusted advisor to project leads, ensuring financial insight drives better operational outcomes
- Identify and implement system and process improvements to enhance data quality and efficiency
- Provide clear, actionable financial insights to non-financial stakeholders
- Qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA) with strong post-qualification experience in a project-led, service, construction, or engineering environment
- Demonstrated experience in business partnering and commercial finance roles
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate financial information clearly and confidently
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, evolving environment and delivering both strategic and hands-on support
- Experience with integration, transformation, or post-acquisition activity is advantageous
- Excellent Excel and system skills, ideally with exposure to ERP or project accounting platforms
- Commercially focused with a proactive, delivery-driven mindset
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, able to build credibility across multiple teams
- Pragmatic and adaptable, with the ability to thrive amid change
- A balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution
