This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong financial accountant to join a growing and fast-paced finance team. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the Financial Accountant will own key areas of financial reporting, statutory accounts, audit, tax, and financial compliance across the UK business and overseas subsidiaries. This is a progressive role, combining strong technical accounting responsibilities with process improvement and exposure to commercial finance. It would suit an ambitious, self-motivated accountant who enjoys taking ownership and improving the quality and efficiency of financial processes.
You will:
- Ensure financial information is accurate, timely and compliant with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Manage and coordinate the annual statutory accounts and external audit process across the Group
- Prepare and submit VAT returns for the UK and six subsidiary entities
- Produce other relevant tax and sales tax reporting for overseas subsidiaries
- Support corporation tax reporting, planning and compliance across the Group
- Manage CAPEX accounting and reporting, including month-end and budgeting requirements
- Support the commercial finance team with financial information, analysis and insight for budgeting, forecasting and decision-making
- Take ownership of improving the quality and integrity of financial information across the UK and overseas entities
- Review existing finance processes and identify opportunities to simplify, automate and improve controls and reporting
- Support the management loan accounts and director share payments
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, overseas subsidiaries, auditors and tax adviser
- Provide wider support to the Group Financial Controller as required
About you:
- Qualified Accountant – ACA or ACCA ideally
- Strong technical accounting knowledge
- Good experience of statutory accounts, external audit, tax and financial reporting
- Strong understanding of accounting standards and financial controls
- Confident using Excel, ERP systems and financial reporting software
- Commercially aware with the ability to understand wider business requirements
- Strong communication skills and comfortable working with stakeholders at different levels
- Evidence of improving financial reporting, processes and internal controls
Desirable:
- Experience working across multiple entities and/or international subsidiaries
- Comfortable operating within a fast-paced, growing business
