Join to apply for the Regional Funeral Planning Consultant role at Distinct Cremations. This role offers a base salary of £28,300 per annum + £3k OTE + £5k car allowance + benefits. You will work from Howe Bridge Crematorium with travel throughout the North West, Midlands and North Wales. Hybrid working from home is available occasionally. It is a permanent full‑time role.
The role involves being the face of Westerleigh Funeral Plans in your region and dividing your time across three key areas of focus:
- Funeral Director engagement – promote and raise awareness of our funeral plan products and services in person and over the phone.
- Community Engagement – organise and deliver region‑wide community promotional and engagement events to raise awareness and generate enquiries from prospective funeral plan customers.
- Funeral plan sales – support face‑to‑face customers looking to plan ahead, providing clear guidance and peace of mind through our tailored funeral plans whilst adhering to FCA regulation.
You will have a base at Howe Bridge Crematorium but travel will be required throughout the North West, Midlands and North Wales, with occasional home working.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Crematorium Managers across the region to identify potential funeral director businesses through which you can promote the benefits of funeral planning.
- Identify and pursue new business development opportunities within the local community, including partnerships with funeral directors and other relevant organisations, to expand the reach and distribution of Westerleigh’s funeral plan products.
- Confidently meet with funeral directors and prospective customers to promote Westerleigh Funeral Plans and ensure they meet their needs, contributing to increased sales.
- Generate awareness and leads through proactive local promotion activity and the high‑quality services and facilities available at Westerleigh Crematoria.
- Provide exceptional service across various communication channels (phone, email, web, live chat, etc.) in all customer interactions.
- Support customers with interest in wider cremation, burial and memorial product offerings, directing them to the right colleague for the best solution.
- Handle sensitive customer queries with empathy and professionalism, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
- Process applications accurately and ensure customer satisfaction at every step of the FCA‑regulated sales process.
- Work collaboratively as part of One Team to meet SLA targets and promote continuous learning and process improvement.
- Share feedback, insights and recommendations for improving product and service offerings and internal processes to enhance overall customer experience.
- Operate in line with FCA regulatory expectations, FCA Consumer Duty and documented internal policies and procedures.
- Engage in coaching and development sessions, embracing feedback to improve personal performance.
- Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date customer records in compliance with GDPR.
- Develop deep product knowledge to confidently respond to questions and share benefits with customers.
About you
- Previous experience in a consultative sales‑oriented role working to targets (e.g., Sales Consultant, Sales Executive, Field Sales Executive, Sales Advisor).
- Experience selling funeral plans or insurance plans and knowledge of FCA compliance is beneficial but not essential; full training is provided.
- Full driving licence and own transport – essential due to travel element.
- Ability to generate customer leads through proactive work tackling relevant customer opportunities in your region.
- Self‑motivated, passion for meeting and exceeding targets ethically.
- Ability to talk confidently about a range of products, tailoring responses to meet customer needs (B2B and B2C).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Resilient and able to build strong relationships with potential customers, offering compassionate support.
- Must pass a DBS (criminal record) check to be considered for this role.
