My client, a market leading manufacturer based in Trafford Park, is looking for a Production Planning Assistant to join the team due to continued expansion. The Production Planning Assistant role supports Production Planners in developing, distributing, and managing short- to mid-term production schedules to align with company output and production targets. Additionally, it involves monitoring scheduled output feasibility and contributing to the development of a standardised, system-driven planning process. The role also provides holiday cover for Production Planners to ensure continuity in scheduling and production flow.
Responsibilities of the Production Planning Assistant:
- Analyse customer and production demand to develop short- and medium-term production schedules.
- Oversee daily production progress by facilitating or participating in production meetings with managers.
- Monitor and ensure the timely closure of completed jobs.
- Coordinate with the commercial team on workflow and order levels.
- Liaise with production teams to track progress and identify potential risks.
- Identify and communicate material shortages, working closely with materials and purchasing teams.
- Assist in current and future Epicor projects to enhance operational efficiency.
Experience we are looking for in a Production Planning Assistant:
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Excel (Epicor experience is advantageous but not essential).
- Excellent communication and written skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Exposure to Lean principles.
- Understanding of ERP systems and planning principles (experience with Epicor, SAP, or similar platforms preferred).
