My client, a well-established national distributor, is looking for a Junior Buyer to support the Food category, helping to manage product ranges, liaise with suppliers, and ensure smooth operations across the business.
What you will do as a Junior Buyer:
- Support the buying team by managing new product setups, supplier relationships, and internal queries.
- Monitor and analyze product performance, ensuring slow-moving or delisted stock is managed effectively.
- Work with suppliers, finance, marketing, supply chain, and sales to ensure product launches run smoothly and all product data is accurate.
- Track commodity price movements and provide insights to help maximize commercial opportunities.
- Assist with price increases, ensuring all documentation is correct for implementation.
- Help maintain category competitiveness, ensuring our product range stands out against key competitors.
Experience of the Junior Buyer:
- Some experience in buying, supply chain, or category management within a foodservice, retail, or wholesale environment.
- A strong commercial mindset with the ability to analyze sales data and market trends.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with experience managing supplier relationships.
- Highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of Mintec or commodity pricing would be an advantage.
