My client situated in Otley is looking for a Mechanical Fitter to add to their growing engineering division. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling, fabricating, and maintaining various metal components, ensuring they meet precise specifications. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical background and experience in welding and fabrication processes.

Hours of work: 12 hours shifts Days 5.30am-5.30pm & Nights 5.30pm-5.30am across a rolling shift pattern. My client is offering a salary up to £47,000 with the opportunity to earn more in overtime.

Main duties & responsibilities:

  • Install, disassemble, repair, and reassemble machinery such as pumps, gearboxes, and mechanical drives.
  • Follow blueprints, manuals, and schematics for task execution.
  • Maintain equipment in line with company procedures, guidelines, and regulatory standards.
  • Diagnose machinery issues and collaborate with the Maintenance or Facility team.
  • Troubleshoot and repair gearboxes, pumps, and pump seals.
  • Working as part of a 4 shift pattern with a cover shift (5 shift fitters).
  • Working alongside shift electrician both days and nights, first responders to breakdowns.
  • Working cover shift once every 5 months.
  • Perform preventative maintenance checks on various assets.
  • Identifying failure modes of equipment and make recommendations to prevent further failures.
  • Repair and maintain rotating equipment such as pumps, rolls, gearboxes, agitators, pulpers, fans, refiners etc.
  • Installation of new rotating equipment including accurate alignment.

Requirements:

  • Apprentice/time served in either industrial maintenance/mechanical engineering or similar field.
  • Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, meters and mechanical service tools.
  • Computer literate with practical experience of CMMS systems.
  • Ability to fault find and think on their feet.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance techniques.
  • Strong team player with the ability to collaborate, train others and support operational goals.
