The Company
We are working with a market leader who are experiencing significant growth. They have a clear path for future company growth and as such are looking to add a Transport Manager to their team at the Worthing depot.
You will be joining a team of experienced industry professionals with a chance to progress your career within a growing business with an excellent brand reputation. This role gives a chance for someone to help lead the Transport function of a blue chip organisation.
The Role
As Transport Manager, you’ll work as part of a team responsible for managing the operations, compliance and most importantly… the people! You will lead a team of circa 20 drivers and be responsible for operational efficiency, people development and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Coaching the team to reach their full potential
- Communicating openly and consistently, delivering key messages to the team at the right time
- Managing recruitment, absence, performance, conduct, safety and service
- Responsible for managing commercial vehicles, cages and pallets
- PPE, vehicle checks, CV servicing, MOTs, VORs, temperature checks, near misses to name a few!
- Allocating work considering individual/team capability and legal driving hours to achieve targets
- Carrying out good quality investigations
- And no matter what you’re doing, you’ll always be promoting and managing all safety
What We Are Looking For
The Transport Manager will ideally have experience in a similar role and be a forward-thinking individual with attention to detail & the ability to manage and develop colleagues within the transport function.
Qualifications
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to coach and develop drivers
- Experience of multi-drop, multi-temperature foodservice business preferable
- Proficient in IT and ability to use Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to fully understand budget and financial targets
- Experience of supporting the supervision/management of a transport department ensuring optimum efficiency and effectiveness
- Work collaboratively and influence to build strong, trusting relationships with peers and other business departments
- Evidence of creative and innovative thinking
- Solid judgement and influencing skills to provide impetus to get things delivered
