We are working with an established e‑commerce and wholesale retailer who are entering a period of growth & change. With exciting future plans ahead, our client is looking to add a Financial Controller to their team due to company expansion. This is a new role within the organisation, giving a chance to add real value to the finance function.

The Financial Controller is the single point of accountability for financial control, accounting integrity, and close discipline across the Group. The role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting for all entities, providing a robust foundation for decision‑making and group reporting to the US parent company. The role will also have managerial responsibility for some of the finance team.

General day to day responsibilities include:

  • Own the month‑end close process for UK, US and Parent entities
  • Manage intercompany accounting, reconciliations and eliminations
  • Design, enforce and continuously improve the close calendar and controls
  • Review and approve journals, reconciliations, accruals, and provisions
  • Ensure balance sheet integrity, with full ownership of reviews and sign‑off
  • Act as the Group authority on Revenue recognition, Accrued commissions, Payroll accounting, Foreign currency and intercompany balances
  • Maintain and apply accounting policies consistently across entities
  • Lead statutory account preparation (UK and US)
  • Act as primary contact for auditors and external advisors
  • Coordinate tax reporting and filings with external specialists
  • Line manage a team encompassing x1 Management Accountant, AR / Credit Control team, AP (UK and US)
  • Own cashflow forecasting accuracy (in partnership with FP&A)
  • Oversee banking, payment controls and cash management
  • Lead working capital discipline across AR and AP
  • Drive standardisation of finance processes across regions
  • Support systems, reporting and automation initiatives

The Financial Controller will ideally have experience in a similar role, within a group entity business. The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
  • Strong experience in controllership, audit or group accounting
  • Multi‑entity and multi‑currency experience essential and/or US‑owned or PE‑backed environment preferred
  • Experience within a e‑commerce, manufacturing or distribution business/market would be beneficial but not essential
  • Strong team leadership experience
  • High attention to detail with strong judgement
  • Calm operator under time pressure
  • Natural owner mentality – takes accountability & confident challenging incomplete or weak analysis

The Financial Controller will receive a competitive basic salary of £65,000-£75,000. You will be joining a business in growth mode, with exciting future expansion opportunities. In addition, you will receive:
