We are working with a market leader within the manufacturing, who are experiencing significant growth. They have a clear path for future company growth and as such are looking to add two Production Supervisors to their team in Doncaster. You will be joining a team of experienced industry professionals with a chance to progress your career within a growing business with an excellent brand reputation.
Working on a rotating shift pattern of days and afternoons and leading a team of 20 (via x 4 direct reports), the Production Supervisor will deliver safe, on-time, and right-first-time production output for the assigned shift by leading people, optimising processes, and resolving issues in real time. The role is accountable for achieving daily production targets, maintaining zero-harm standards, reducing defects, and driving continuous improvement that enhances cost efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Main Responsibilities:
- Drive team performance to consistently meet or exceed shift KPIs and manage attendance/staffing levels.
- Ensuring compliance to health and safety rules and procedures and promote a continuous improvement culture.
- Ensure quality specifications are adhered to with ‘Right First Time’ approach.
- Support and deliver the production plan as directed by the Production Manager.
- Effective supervision of areas under your responsibility.
- Reporting production progress through the chain of command and to the wider team.
- Monitor and plan holidays to ensure cover is provided in line with the production plan.
- Ensure correct PPE is worn at all times where required and ensure section areas are safe and free from obstructions.
- Support Section Leaders with Risk Assessments, Safe systems of work and competency training.
- In conjunction with Managers/Section Leaders assist, develop, implement a safety culture to include tool box meetings, hazzbase reporting etc.
- Prepare shift rotas and ensure manning levels are adequate as per production plan.
- Assist and support the Production Manager in maintaining performance metrics KPI’s.
- Conduct shop floor audits to verify that improvements are sustained.
- Assist with developing training needs of the department as required.
- Assist with kaizen events. Identify opportunities for waste reduction in business using lean manufacturing and quality principles to reduce waste, increase product quality and/or increase labour efficiency.
- Liaise with Maintenance department to ensure PPM and emergency maintenance is carried out.
The Production Supervisor will ideally have experience in a similar role within a fast-paced manufacturing/engineering organisation and be a forward-thinking individual with attention to detail. Ideally you will be/have:
- Proven ability to deliver operational targets in a production environment.
- Diploma or qualification in a supervisory capacity is of benefit.
- Experience of managing a team.
- IOSH managing safely.
- Experience leading teams to achieve measurable performance improvements.
- Strong capability in data analysis and performance tracking.
- Effective communicator with the ability to drive accountability at all levels.
- Lean / Continuous Improvement experience, a proactive problem solver.
