Operating from its modern manufacturing facility, they continue to invest in its people, processes, and equipment to maintain its reputation for quality and innovation. Due to continued growth, I am looking to recruit a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join the engineering team.
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving production machinery across the site. Working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for ensuring plant reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This is a days-based role offering excellent work-life balance and the opportunity to work on a variety of manufacturing and automated equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across manufacturing and production equipment
- Respond to mechanical breakdowns and diagnose faults efficiently
- Maintain and repair conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, chains, belts, rollers, pumps, and motors
- Work on pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Conduct machinery inspections and condition monitoring activities
- Support machine installations, modifications, and improvement projects
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Assist with root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Ensure maintenance records and documentation are completed accurately
- Work closely with production teams to maximise equipment availability and performance
- Maintain high standards of health, safety, and housekeeping
- NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, Apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering
- Previous experience within manufacturing, production, woodworking, furniture, FMCG, packaging, or industrial environments
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills
- Experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Proactive and hands-on approach to maintenance
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies would be advantageous
- £35,000 - £45,000 basic salary (DOE)
- Monday to Friday days role
