My client is one of the Northwest leading manufacturers and suppliers of specialist chemicals, aerosols, lubricants, paints, and consumer products. Due to continued investment and growth, I am looking to recruit a skilled Maintenance Electrician to join our engineering team at our Oldham facility. This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically qualified engineer looking for a stable days-based role within a well-established manufacturing business.

The Role - Maintenance Electrician

As a Maintenance Electrician, you will be responsible for maintaining electrical systems, production equipment, and site services to ensure maximum uptime and operational efficiency across the facility. Working closely with production and engineering teams, you will support both planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown activities whilst driving continuous improvement initiatives across site.

Key Responsibilities - Maintenance Electrician

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on plant and production equipment
  • Attend and resolve electrical breakdowns efficiently to minimise downtime
  • Fault find on electrical systems, motors, drives, inverters, sensors, relays, and control panels
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Support machinery installations, upgrades, and improvement projects
  • Assist with fault diagnosis on automated production equipment
  • Carry out electrical testing, inspection, and repair work
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety and electrical regulations
  • Work collaboratively with production teams to maximise equipment reliability

What We're Looking For

  • NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations desirable
  • Previous experience within manufacturing, production, chemical, process, FMCG, or industrial environments
  • Strong electrical fault-finding skills
  • Experience working with motors, drives, sensors, relays, and control systems
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and engineering drawings
  • Proactive and hands-on approach to maintenance
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
