Head of Group Finance | £100,000 + Bonus | East Midlands 1–2 days in the office
I'm recruiting exclusively for a senior finance leadership opportunity with a sizeable, complex organisation in the East Midlands.
It's a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys the breadth of finance. Someone who likes getting into the detail, understands the importance of good financial control, but equally enjoys stepping back, looking at the bigger picture and influencing commercial and strategic decisions.
You’ll be joining a business with an established finance function, ambitious plans and a talented leadership team who genuinely value the contribution finance makes.
There’s a lot to get involved in, a good level of autonomy and the opportunity to work alongside experienced senior leaders who will challenge you, involve you in important decisions and give you the space to make an impact.
The opportunity
This is a broad leadership role with responsibility across FP&A, management accounting and financial control.
You’ll lead an established team, working closely with senior finance leadership and stakeholders across the wider business.
The role combines the day-to-day responsibility of running an effective finance function with the opportunity to shape its longer-term direction.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Leading and developing teams across FP&A, management accounting and financial control.
- Owning budgeting, forecasting and longer-term financial planning, providing insight into performance and future opportunities.
- Overseeing management accounts, financial reporting and controls, ensuring the quality and accuracy of financial information.
- Working closely with senior stakeholders, challenging performance and supporting commercial and strategic decisions.
- Improving systems, processes and reporting, finding better ways of working and making more effective use of data.
- Developing the capability of the finance team and helping shape how the function supports the wider organisation.
Who are we looking for?
Ideally, you’ll be an ACA / ACCA qualified accountant who started your career in practice before moving into industry.
Importantly, we’re looking for someone who has subsequently developed their career within a sizeable, complex organisation, ideally a PLC, listed business, large corporate or international group.
You might currently be a Head of Finance, Head of Group Finance, Group Financial Controller or Head of FP&A.
What's more important than your title is the breadth of your experience.
You’ll need to have led teams across both FP&A and management accounting or financial control, rather than specialising exclusively in one area.
We’re looking for someone who understands the demands of working in a larger organisation, with multiple stakeholders, established reporting structures, demanding deadlines and high expectations around financial information.
You’ll be comfortable operating at a senior level, influencing decisions and challenging performance, but equally happy getting into the detail when needed.
Why consider it?
There’s a great combination of scale, exposure and opportunity here.
You’ll be working in a business with the size and complexity to offer genuinely interesting challenges, but with the opportunity to remain close to the decisions being made.
You’ll inherit an established team, work alongside experienced senior leaders and have the opportunity to influence everything from financial performance and commercial decisions to processes, systems and how finance operates.
It’s not a role where you’ll be purely focused on reporting historical numbers, nor one where you’re removed from the detail.
You’ll have the opportunity to get involved across the full finance agenda, develop people, improve the way things work and play an important part in the business’s future.
There’s also a good degree of flexibility, with typically just 1–2 days a week in the office.
The package
- £100,000 basic salary
- Performance-related bonus
- Enhanced matched pension and holiday allowance
- Additional benefits
- Hybrid working, 1–2 days a week in the office
This is a confidential appointment, so I’m unable to share the business name publicly, but I’m happy to provide more detail on the organisation, the team and the opportunity.
