Looking for something a bit different?
A role where you can combine commercial thinking, leadership and long-term impact — all while being part of something that genuinely makes a difference?
This isn’t your typical finance role. Yes, the numbers matter — but so does the bigger picture. We’re talking strategy, governance, estates, IT, data protection, compliance, and helping shape the future direction of a historic, values-led organisation.
Following an internal promotion, we’re working exclusively with a respected independent school group in Nottingham (commutable from Derby and Leicester) to help appoint their next Director of Finance & Business.
You’ll sit on the Executive Leadership Team, working closely with the Bursar, Heads, and Board of Governors. You’ll lead Finance and IT, help drive strategic planning and investment, and play a key role in key projects across the wider organisation. There’s real scope to modernise systems, improve insight and support operational delivery — all while keeping things running smoothly day-to-day.
Who we’re looking for:
- A qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with senior leadership experience
- Someone who enjoys variety — from rolling up their sleeves in the detail, to contributing at board level
- A confident communicator and natural collaborator who can influence widely and lead cross-functionally
- Someone with strong commercial awareness and a values-led approach
- A background in education, charity or regulated sectors would be helpful — but isn’t essential
This is a brilliant opportunity to join a well-established, purpose-driven organisation at a time of positive change — a role where your work will directly contribute to something meaningful.
Offering between £70,000–£77,000 + benefits including private medical, life assurance, enhanced sick and family leave as well as other benefits.
If that sounds like your kind of challenge, let’s have a chat.
