z/OS Systems Programmer

We are seeking a senior, hands-on z/OS Systems Programmer for a contract role supporting and optimising a complex IBM mainframe environment. This role focuses on system upgrades, performance tuning, and resolving high-impact production issues. Experience with Broadcom (CA) or equivalent mainframe tooling is highly desirable.

You will work independently, taking ownership of core z/OS subsystems and delivering reliable, high-quality outcomes in a demanding enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support, maintain, and optimise z/OS and core subsystems including JES2, WLM, TCP/IP, RACF integration, and system services
• Lead SMP/E maintenance, IPL planning, PARMLIB updates, and z/OS upgrades
• Diagnose and resolve complex production and performance issues
• Manage DASD, system catalogues, HCD/HCM, and I/O configuration
• Provide hands‑on expertise across system tuning and stability initiatives

Tooling Experience (Broadcom or Equivalent)

• Broadcom/CA, BMC, IBM, ASG, or similar mainframe tools in areas such as:
• Automation: OPS/MVS, System Automation, MainView, or equivalents
• Scheduling: CA-7, Control-M, TWS/IWS
• Tape & Storage Management: CA-1, RMM, TLMS

Skills & Experience

• Strong REXX, JCL, and automation scripting skills
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex enterprise‑scale issues
• Comfortable working independently in a production mainframe environment
