As a Health and Safety Advisor, you’ll provide expert support across M Group Cambridgeshire Highways operations to help teams deliver work safely and compliantly. You’ll promote a strong Health and Safety culture, driving improvement through coaching, monitoring, audits, inspections and trend analysis. Working with Senior Health and Safety Advisors, operational leaders and the Health and Safety Manager, you’ll help manage risk, including work in occupied properties, and set clear expectations. You’ll support improvements in build quality, help prevent incidents, protect assets and reduce at ‑fault collisions, while maintaining accurate records and leading Health and Safety colleagues where required. Key Responsibilities/what they’ll be doing (no more than 100 words) Compliance and legislation – You support compliance across operations, helping teams understand and apply requirements. Risk management – You help teams identify, assess and control risk across operations. Site support and monitoring – You provide visible, practical Health and Safety support on site. Incident management – You support incident investigation and follow up to strengthen controls and reduce risk. Training and engagement – You engage with teams to promote Health and Safety awareness, competence and safe behaviours. Reporting and performance – You maintain accurate Health and Safety records and support effective performance reporting. Collaboration and leadership – You collaborate with teams and partners to support Health and Safety performance What they’ll bring – Key skills, qualifications and experience (no more than 75 words) Essential : Core skills, experience, qualifications and professional memberships you’ll need from day one: Technical knowledge and qualifications NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate or equivalent Sound knowledge of Health and Safety principles, risk management and safe systems of work Good working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation Knowledge of CDM Regulations where applicable Analytical approach to incident investigation and root cause analysis Experience working in a SHE or Health and Safety advisory role Communication and influence Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills Ability to work effectively with operational teams and contractors System and tools Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office Other Full UK driving licence where the role requires site‑based working Desirable: Other skills, experience, qualifications and professional memberships that will help you grow with us: NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ Level 5/6 (or working towards) IOSH or equivalent professional membership SEATS - Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme Experience working to ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 First Aid at work Proactive, self‑motivated, flexible and adaptable What’s in it for you?
