An established events and audio‑visual production company in Northampton is seeking a client‑facing Technical Project Manager to join their team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys collaborating with clients, managing technical event delivery, and working within a people‑first, supportive culture. The role offers hybrid working, a typical 40‑hour week (across 4 or 5 days), and strong work‑life balance—while recognising that flexibility is occasionally required in the events sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Liaison & Relationship Management
- Act as the primary point of contact between clients and internal teams.
- Lead initial briefings, specification discussions, and scoping sessions.
- Agree budgets, timelines, and project requirements.
- Build long‑term, positive client relationships.
- Technical Project Management
- Convert client briefs into accurate quotes and detailed technical specifications.
- Select appropriate AV equipment and staging solutions, including:
- Audio: microphones, speakers, amps, processors, stands
- Visual: LED walls, projection, flat screens
- IT & Signal: media players, distribution, image management
- Lighting: static, wash, colour, dynamic and control systems
- Special FX Cabling & connections
- Produce and interpret technical drawings and stage plans.
- Confidently break down technical AV requirements for clients and colleagues.
- Identify rigging requirements and work with rigging teams where needed.
- Assist with creative design elements, print requirements and build concepts.
- Work with internal design or creative teams to ensure client expectations are met.
- Book technical teams, rigging crews and de‑rig personnel.
- Allocate tasks based on skills, roles, and project complexity.
- Oversee scheduling, equipment preparation, delivery planning and resource management.
- Serve as the on‑site Project Manager, overseeing rigging, live execution and de‑rigging.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and maintain high delivery standards.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to client satisfaction.
- Conduct feedback reviews and debriefs.
- Support follow‑on bookings, referrals and ongoing client engagement.
