Role Overview:
As a Senior Renewables Mechanical Engineer, you will spearhead the design and development of mechanical solutions that integrate seamlessly into renewable energy systems. Your work will take you from feasibility studies to full system designs and installations, ensuring the successful decarbonisation of various estates.
You’ll have the opportunity to lead a small, dynamic team, collaborating closely with clients and stakeholders, and advancing your knowledge of renewable systems. Key Responsibilities:
– Lead the design and specification of low-carbon heating and cooling systems, such as heat pumps, biomass, and combined heat & power systems.
– Conduct site surveys and assess existing mechanical infrastructure, identifying opportunities for improvements and efficiencies.
– Evaluate the environmental, operational, and financial feasibility of various renewable energy solutions.
– Work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated decarbonisation plans for clients, including energy efficiency considerations and electrical integration.
– Provide technical support during implementation and commissioning of systems.
– Drive ongoing evaluation of installed systems, advising clients on further enhancements and optimisations.
Essential Skills & Experience:
–
• Mechanical or Renewable Engineering Bachelors or Masters Degree with sufficient relevant experience to apply to become chartered or holding Chartered status currently..
• An enquiring mind and a desire to understand future mechanical technologies and how they can be applied to achieve a zero-carbon environment.
• An understanding of heat pumps. (GSHP/ASHP)
• Understanding of metering.
• Good communications skill and the ability to work with and lead a small team.
• Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously and manage own work to meet the deadlines of the projects.
• Energetic and capable of operating on own initiative and driving events.
• The ability to prepare and record information in a clear and logical format.
• Competent with IT and fully conversant with common packages such as Microsoft 365
Desirable:
– Chartered status or working towards it.
– Strong technical writing skills.
