The Opportunity
Reporting into the Distribution Director, you will be naturally autonomous in your work ethic, treating your sales development like your own business. You'll be responsible for growing and managing relationships with insurance brokers and intermediary partners across your territory and willing to go that extra mile to service and develop business relationships, sales and pipeline.
You will:
- Identify new business opportunities, support partners with training and product knowledge, and help them successfully introduce solutions to their clients.
- Receive the support, tools and coaching needed to build a strong pipeline and deliver long-term success.
- Travel regularly throughout your region, with occasional overnight stays, and visits to the London office a couple of times each month.
What You'll Be Doing
- Business Development
- Identify and approach new insurance brokers and intermediary partners.
- Build a healthy pipeline of opportunities within your territory.
- Support new partners through onboarding and implementation.
- Develop your own territory plan to achieve sustainable growth.
- Maintain regular contact with prospects throughout longer sales cycles.
- Relationship Management
- Build trusted relationships with brokers and intermediary partners.
- Deliver product training and support to help partners confidently recommend solutions.
- Attend joint client meetings and presentations where required.
- Provide an outstanding level of service to develop long-term partnerships.
- Identify opportunities to grow existing broker relationships.
- Market & Industry Engagement
- Keep up to date with developments within the insurance and employee benefits market.
- Attend networking events, exhibitions and industry conferences.
- Share market feedback and customer insights with the wider business.
- Work closely with marketing to support lead generation activity.
- CRM & Sales Administration
- Maintain accurate records of all activity using HubSpot CRM.
- Keep your pipeline up to date and provide regular sales forecasts.
- Track performance against objectives and KPIs.
- Manage your diary and territory effectively.
About You
We're looking for someone who is ambitious, relationship-focused and keen to build a successful career within insurance sales. You may already be working or will have recently worked in a B2B related sales/relationship function for an insurer, broker, MGA or InsurTech and are ready for your next challenge within a growing business where your contribution will genuinely make a difference.
Essential
- Previous experience in B2B sales for an Insurance related business or Healthcare business.
- Knowledge and experience with broker development, B2B account management or business development into corporate businesses is essential.
- Experience within the insurance sector, ideally working with brokers or intermediaries.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Self-motivated, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently.
- Comfortable managing a sales pipeline and working towards targets.
- Experience using a CRM system.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across your region.
Desirable
- Experience within Private Medical Insurance (PMI), Employee Benefits or Protection.
- Knowledge of intermediary or broker distribution.
- Experience working within an InsurTech or fast-growing business.
- Understanding of FCA regulated environments.
