ABC11 Eyewitness News, with three downtown newsrooms (Raleigh/Fayetteville/Durham), provides 45.5 hours of local news weekly, serving over 1 million households across 23 counties in North Carolina and Virginia. The station also offers news, weather, and sports 24/7 on ABC11.com, the ABC11 mobile app, and the connected TV app.
The Photojournalist position supports our newsroom operations across linear, digital, and streaming platforms.
Job Summary: The photojournalist will shoot and edit video content for our multi-platform newsroom, including setting up live shots, working independently or with reporters, and maintaining high journalistic standards. Candidates must operate effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while ensuring quality and accuracy.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Shoot and edit video for broadcast, digital, and streaming platforms.
- Set up and operate live shots, including cellular bonded technology.
- Manage and ingest media efficiently.
- Work independently or as part of a team, demonstrating strong journalistic judgment and work ethic.
- Adapt to evolving technical workflows while maintaining high standards.
- Troubleshoot technical issues under pressure and respond effectively.
Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Training:
- At least three years of experience shooting and editing video.
- Proficiency with ENG cameras and non-linear editing software (Adobe Premiere preferred).
- Experience setting up live shots and familiarity with bonded cellular technology.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and in high-pressure environments.
- A clean driving record and the ability to carry up to 50 lbs. of equipment.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and early mornings.
Preferred Requirements:
- Previous experience as a photojournalist.
Basic Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Education: College Degree.
