Position SummaryWe are looking for a Lead Compositor who reflects the innovative spirit, creative talent, production excellence, collaborative mindset and passion for great filmmaking that define ILM.The Lead Compositor is responsible for providing creative and technical guidance for assigned shots, collaborating with other departments as well as maintaining the overall quality for shots and sequences to create uniformity in all finished work. The Lead will be accountable and responsible for the morale of the people on your show as well as being forthcoming with expectations of those on your show.Applicants must be available to commence employment in October 2026.What You’ll DoWork with the Compositing Supervisor and Visual Effects Supervisor to evaluate the creative and technical approach for assigned shots.Work with Production in the estimation of schedules, and in staffing requirements including assessing individuals’ skills and delegating work appropriatelyMaintain the overall quality (look, colour balance) for shots and sequencesIndependently provide solutions to technical and aesthetic problems, with minimal directionEmpower team members to collaborate inclusively, build community and a sense of belonging.Being accountable and responsible for the morale of the people on your show; being forthcoming with expectations of those on your showWhat We’re Looking ForStrong knowledge of Nuke.Familiarity with using Linux systemsAbility to write Nuke gizmos and/or plugins is a plus.Composed and able to work graciously under intense time pressure.Have a deep understanding of the general VFX pipelinePrevious experience in look development and sequence supervision is beneficial.Collaborating within, across and outside your show, and using situational awareness to make timely decisions for your show with the studio and the company in mind at all times.As part of your application please submit a demo reel, shot breakdown, or equivalent showcasing your work.
