We are looking for an Accounting Manager (Media) to join our EMEA Controllership team on a 16-month fixed term contract!

As a Media Accounting Manager, the successful candidate will work closely with our Senior Manager and will primarily be responsible for the close accounting processes and deliverables for Media segments, specifically focusing on TV Channels, Star, National Geographic, Baby TV, ESPN, Disney Channel, AD Sales, Media distribution & other media lines of business.

Please note: This role will be based in our London Hammersmith office, 4 days a week, with either Monday or Friday working from home.

What You Will Do

  • Day to day management, support & development of 1 person, including hiring, objective setting, performance management, guidance, and training.
  • Ensuring quarterly close activities are completed in an accurate and timely manner, monitoring the timely completion of the team deliverables checklist & facilitating speedy issue resolution.
  • Attending & leading quarterly close calls to ensure the leadership team receive timely & accurate updates on close numbers.
  • Ensuring overall submission of reporting packages & financial reports, such as income statements, balance sheet flux schedules and impairments are completed in a timely manner & all issues & variances are resolved.
  • Reviewing & approving key close postings before period close.
  • Working closely with EMEA, India & US teams daily to bridge knowledge gaps, facilitate rapid issue resolution, efficiencies and facilitating change management.
  • Maintaining the status of an EMEA programming centre of excellence & liaising regularly with programming teams globally to ensure accounting, tax & legal compliance.
  • Ensuring compliance with programming accounting policies for EMEA internally developed content, third‑party acquisitions, pre‑buys (original acquisitions), co‑productions, US content, Studio content, contributions, interstitials, development & pilot & content produced for third parties.
  • Reviewing the programming FOH system, asset set ups, liabilities, amortisation, collapsing assets & AP payments on an ongoing basis as well as advising the team on efficient issue resolution.
  • Drive efficiencies within ad sales processes & roll out new initiatives.
  • Approval of all journals & ICO invoices over $1m.
  • Liaising with external Auditors on a quarterly basis, including attending the audit calls.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley & Disney Minimum Control Standards e.g. journal log.
  • Identify & drive areas of improvement within current processes with the aim of maintaining the current high standard of service provided in a more efficient manner.
  • Undertake various projects to drive efficiency.
  • Legal entity rationalisation i.e. mergers and transfers of business.
  • Supporting management & wider finance team on any ad‑hoc duties.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • A Qualified (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) Accounting Manager with a minimum of 5 years’ post‑qualified experience or equivalent.
  • Background & knowledge of film & TV programming accounting preferred.
  • Advanced excel skills and SAP experience.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyse information critically & ask questions.
  • Adaptable & ability to manage to tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.
