As a People Partner, you will work closely with our cafés to support and coach the team, focusing on team engagement and experience. You will use data to support conversations and be a great thinking partner for our teams. Building great relationships is super important to get things done and will be essential for your success. You will be the link between café operations and the People Team, always looking at ways to improve what we do, develop initiatives and proactively work across functions to provide and work toward solutions. We are a growing team (nearly 2,000 Dishoom-wallas!) and this role is hugely important in supporting this. You will be on the ground making sure our teams are happy and ensuring we are focusing on the right things. The role will report to our Head of People and will be based in Babu House.

Location and Working Pattern

Head office is in Shoreditch. As a People Partner, it's likely you'll spend more time in our cafés. We understand our team sometimes needs quiet to get things done, so we can be flexible about where you want to work.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the People Team to identify patterns within cafés and across Dishoom, partnering with relevant stakeholders to reach the right solutions.
  • Develop measurable and thoughtful initiatives to improve team engagement with wellbeing at the forefront.
  • Use people data to support conversations and influence decisions whilst taking a people-first approach.
  • Drive team engagement surveys, create an actionable plan, and work closely with Operations to make Dishoom a happier and healthier place for our teams to work.
  • Coach and develop our Babu staff in people management, providing the right tools and guidance.
  • Lead Babu training sessions, developing awareness and capability across our management teams, with emphasis on making Dishoom a great place to work.
  • Lead on People projects that focus on happy teams and a supportive work culture.
  • Talent mapping and succession planning – working across teams to identify any areas of focus, future potential and risk, and proactively plan.
  • Manage and support on high-level ER cases, including performance management to grievance, ensuring Babu staff are equipped and knowledgeable on certain processes.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a similar role; able to handle a stack of different scenarios and juggle various stakeholders.
  • People-first approach with the flexibility to think commercially, truly understand Dishoom, our culture, and who we are when making decisions.
  • Exceptional people skills – warm and genuinely lovely with every interaction; natural ability to build relationships.
  • Ownership – proactively seeking out solutions and opportunities to improve; a self-starter who loves problem-solving and generating new ideas.
  • Flexibility and adaptability – ability to positively challenge our thinking and provide different viewpoints to achieve outcomes.
