In Dishoom, we see every team member as valuable and important to ensuring the all-around brilliant experience for our guests. We are looking for friendly, attentive and organised people to join our Permit Room Bar-Cafe team in X.
Responsibilities
- Pour each drink to perfection and ensure the last bottle is replaced in the fridge.
- Make each coffee and cup of Chai with the same importance as the first one of the day.
- Greet our guests day or night with a smile that makes them instantly feel welcomed.
- Transport our guests to the Permit Rooms of Bombay, with thorough knowledge of all drinks, bar snacks, curries, sharing plates and Dishoom dishes.
- Maintain clear communication with the team to ensure smooth service and that nothing goes missing, regardless of the number of tables.
- Cross-training and exposure to Server and Host departments to support continuous learning about our Bar-Cafe.
What we’re looking for
- Previous work experience as a Cocktail Bartender – at least 1 year minimum, in a high-volume restaurant/bar environment, with knowledge of all of the classics.
- A desire to grow – we promote from within (Shift Leaders, Head and Deputy Bartenders). Our award-winning Babu Masterclass programme supports our teams with tools to be future leaders.
- Interest in cross-training and exposure within your role to other departments to support your development.

We have Dishoom Cafes across London, Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow. Our Permit Rooms can be found in Brighton, Cambridge and Oxford, with our newest Bar-Cafe opened in Portobello this Spring. We also have kitchens across London to ensure guests can enjoy our food at home.
We run busy sites with big teams and are committed to giving back, including planting trees with our teams in the UK & India, tying Rakhis with guests, and supporting Meal for a Meal to help feed children. Since January 2024, we have donated 20 million meals, with each Dishoom-walle contributing to 55 meals per shift.

What to expect
- Free team meals every shift and all the Chai you can drink.
- £16 per hour inclusive of tronc (based on the last 3 months’ average). Paid monthly.
- Full-time role across 5 days, Monday - Sunday availability required.
- Weekly rotating rota provided at least 6 days in advance.
- All-day dining Bar-Cafe with varied daytime and evening shifts (not always late nights).
- Access to award-winning training programmes and support; focus on development from day one; 211 Dishoom-walles promoted last year.
- Paid holidays per year at your usual rate; sites closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day; one extra day for employees with children for their children’s first day at school.
- No uniforms; smart casual attire and trainers acceptable.
