Lead Engineer in London

We’re looking for a Lead Engineer to take ownership of developing and optimizing our user‑facing commercial platform. This platform is at the heart of how customers interact with our products, so you’ll have a big impact on shaping both user experience and business operations. You’ll collaborate closely with the wider engineering team, finance, sales and operations, and will be responsible for translating the business vision into code while managing project timelines and stakeholder expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a project manager for releases, communicate timelines to stakeholders, advise on roadmap and define best practices
• Manage and mentor junior developers
• Build and maintain APIs, services, and systems across multiple platforms, languages, and technologies
• Develop scalable and robust backend solutions with proper database optimizations
• Create and maintain Vue controls and components for end‑user functionality
• Coordinate with UX designers and data engineers to ensure delivery of key milestones
• Provide expertise to other development teams throughout the organization
• Review code and pull requests, ensuring quality and compliance
• Assist support team with customer inquiries, troubleshooting, and responding to requests internally and externally
• Troubleshoot, debug, and deploy as needed
• Decompose features into manageable implementation tasks

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience, ideally covering a full product lifecycle
• Project management experience and a product‑minded mindset, thinking about the why as well as the how
• Strong proficiency in Vue on the front end
• Strong proficiency in Django and/or Laravel on the back end
• Experience building integrations with existing business systems (e.g., Stripe, Salesforce, Netsuite, licensing management systems)
• Experience leading or mentoring junior developers
• Comfortable with legacy systems, including SOAP
• Willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity without impacting quality
• Jira, GitHub, ProductBoard or other project‑management tracking and ticketing tools knowledge
• Git source control proficiency, including branches, pull requests, and code reviews
• Strong REST API understanding and implementation experience, including OpenAPI specification and documentation
• Exposure to standard AWS‑based product stacks and associated secondary tooling for documentation, testing and deployments

Nice to Have

• Basic design/UX sensibility
• Nuxt.js experience
• Tailwind CSS familiarity
• Familiarity with live events, film, production, or entertainment industries
