At Discovery, every day is a chance to make a real difference. Whether you work directly with the people we support or play a vital role behind the scenes, your contribution helps create moments of joy, independence, and genuine connection. We empower people to live the life they choose—supporting them to grow in confidence, learn new skills, and even discover meaningful employment opportunities. People with learning disabilities, autistic adults, and their families are at the heart of everything we do. We’re passionate about helping every person we support lead the very best life possible.
As part of Dimensions—one of the UK’s largest not-for-profit organisations and a leader in best practice for over 40 years—you’ll be joining a team with a proud history and an even brighter future. Together, we create places where people feel valued, respected, and truly at home.
About the role: Imagine starting each day knowing you’re making a real difference — that’s life at Greenbank. You’ll be joining a warm, energetic and truly uplifting home where four incredible ladies (aged 20s–50s) rely on us to help them live happy, meaningful and empowered lives. Each person has their own unique personality and way of communicating, and you’ll get to know them deeply as you support their individual needs, which may include epilepsy, learning disabilities, autism, cerebral palsy, dysphagia and PEG feeding. This is a hands‑on role where no two days look the same. You’ll provide essential support such as mobility assistance, hoisting and full personal care — but you’ll also be the person who helps create the moments they look forward to most. That might mean getting out and about for fresh‑air walks, enjoying sensory activities, visiting the hydro pool, or spending time doing crafts, pamper sessions, or simply relaxing with our lovely house cat. Greenbank is perfectly placed for outings, with favourite spots like Paradise Park, the local seal sanctuary and Trevaskas Farm right on the doorstep.
If you love seeing people smile, explore new places, and enjoy life to the fullest, you’ll feel right at home here.
Driving licence – With three manual mobility cars and one automatic, a manual driving licence is essential to ensure the ladies can enjoy the outings they love.
About you: We’re looking for someone warm, patient and genuinely enthusiastic about making a positive difference every day. You’ll be caring, flexible, supportive and comfortable working with people who have a range of communication and physical support needs. You don’t need experience — just compassion, reliability and the willingness to learn specialist skills. You’ll also need basic IT skills, as you’ll be using digital systems to update daily records, support plans and medication notes. If you’re someone who brings kindness, energy, humour and heart into everything you do — we’d love to meet you.
Training, Development and Career Opportunities: Working for Discovery is rewarding, meaningful and offers genuine career progression. Within your first 12 weeks, we’ll fund and support you to complete the Care Certificate, which is essential for anyone working in health and social care. You’ll have access to a wide range of online and face‑to‑face training, including specialist courses tailored to the needs of the people you support. Through our City & Guilds accredited qualification centre, you can work towards diplomas and recognised qualifications — and in some cases earn a financial bonus on completion. Our Learning Connect online platform gives you access to extensive training pathways so you can continue developing your skills throughout your career with us.
