At Discovery, we support people across Somerset and Cornwall to live the lives they choose. When you join us, you become part of a friendly, dedicated team that puts people at the heart of everything we do. You’ll make a real difference every day, and in return we’ll support you with excellent training, development opportunities and colleague benefits.

There’s no “typical” Support Worker here. Our teams include people from all backgrounds — from those starting their careers to those looking for a meaningful change, as well as experienced professionals who want to work somewhere that truly values the people it supports. What brings everyone together is a shared motivation: helping people live well, learn new skills, and grow in independence.

Our support workers don’t see this as just a job — they see it as an opportunity to make a positive impact and be part of moments that matter. Thanks to our amazing teams, Dimensions Group has been accredited as a Great Place to Work for 2026 — our eighth consecutive year of recognition.

You’ll be joining a supportive, passionate team providing person‑centred support to six adults aged between their 30s and 50s. The people you’ll be supporting have a range of needs, including profound and multiple disabilities, moderate learning disabilities, epilepsy, PEG feeding, and varied communication styles such as spoken words, personalised signing and their own unique ways of expressing themselves. Five people require support with personal care and daily hygiene routines, including washing, toileting and continence care. Two people are full‑time wheelchair users and require hoisting.

Life in this home is active, sociable and varied. You’ll be supporting people to enjoy the things they love — from days out, drives in the countryside, horse carriage rides, Longleat trips, visits to Starbucks, trips to watch the latest musical, opera, 70s TV classics like Rainbow, Disney films and fairy‑tale stories. Two gentlemen absolutely love anything with wheels or wings — cars, planes and helicopters. Three people attend hydrotherapy sessions, so you’ll need to feel comfortable supporting in the pool. You’ll also be helping people make the most of everyday activities, whether that’s going out in all weathers, using public transport, attending social groups, or simply enjoying meaningful time at home.

You don’t need previous experience to become a great Support Worker — what matters most is your attitude. We’re looking for people who are patient, positive, kind and genuinely motivated to help others live well. If you’re someone who listens, encourages independence, enjoys being part of an active team and isn’t afraid of getting stuck in, we’d love to hear from you. You’ll be someone who values dignity, choice and inclusion, and who brings calmness, resilience and creativity to your work — whether that’s helping with personal care, supporting communication, joining someone for a favourite activity, or enabling someone to feel safe and confident throughout their day.

Working for Discovery is rewarding, meaningful and offers genuine career progression. Within your first 12 weeks, we’ll fund and support you to complete the Care Certificate, which is essential for anyone working in health and social care. You’ll have access to a wide range of online and face‑to‑face training, including specialist courses tailored to the needs of the people you support. Through our City & Guilds accredited qualification centre, you can work towards diplomas and recognised qualifications — and in some cases earn a financial bonus on completion. Our Learning Connect online platform gives you access to extensive training pathways so you can continue developing your skills throughout your career with us.

Rewards that make a difference:

  • A competitive pay rate with uplift for overtime you choose to work
  • Flexible shift patterns to suit your needs
  • 30 days paid Annual Leave (including public holidays – pro rata)
  • Opportunities for career progression
  • Supported ‘Learn to Drive’ scheme (up to 30 driving lessons, 1 theory/practical test - all paid for by us)
