The Grounds person and Landscaper works with the Golf team on the upkeep of the estate and grounds, garden areas and ensure they always look well maintained and continue to exceed the expectations of our members, guests, and visitors. A very varied hands-on role and under the direction of our Director of Agronomy you preserve, maintain, and enhance the outdoor spaces and estate’s natural landscape.
You will care for and manage the landscape to maintain the health and appearance of our grass, trees, and plants. Ensure their health, safety and aesthetic appeal and combine your practical skills with a deep understanding of arboriculture and environmental conservation. You take part in our development and the implementation of our long-term sustainable plan. People are our priority you support the wider team across Taymouth Castle Golf and Sport Club and Glenlyon Estate.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement grounds maintenance requirements, including regular inspections to assess health, stability and signs of disease or damage; ensure grass, trees and plants thrive.
- Perform pruning, trimming, and shaping to promote healthy growth and desired aesthetics.
- Follow procedures and ensure the safe use of all machinery, hand tools, fertilisers, and pesticides.
- Assist with hard and soft landscaping projects and ground preparation (ground, paving, simple construction, grubbing out, planting; includes trees/shrubs and other general landscaping operations as needed).
- Deliver first-class garden maintenance with the estate team, including upkeep of garden structures (fences, trellises, compost areas, etc.).
- Collect and maintain accurate records of health and condition of gardens and environment; record maintenance activities, treatments, and growth observations; make recommendations to the Director of Agronomy; document with regular photography in a monthly report.
- Use mobile applications to report and record tasks; maintain RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statements), COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and MDS (Model Development Specifications).
- Contribute to day-to-day operations with passion and high service standards; collaborate with team members across facilities and participate in department and wider business meetings as required.
- Adapt to varying locations across the estate; maintain good physical fitness and stamina for heavy lifting, challenging terrain and variable weather conditions.
- Work under pressure to juggle priorities with minimal supervision; adapt working days/hours to meet business needs and during emergencies or busy seasons.
- Travel between locations as required with a Full UK driving license.
- NVQ Level 3 or above in horticultural qualification or equivalent.
- Vocational qualifications relevant to the role including PA1, PA2 and PA6A spraying certificates.
- Full UK driving license; willingness to travel between locations.
