We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Clinical Lead to join our leadership team. As the Clinical Lead, you play a pivotal role in ensuring high standards of care, overseeing clinical governance, and supporting staff development. You will be responsible for leading the nursing team, ensuring compliance with Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulations, and enhancing the well-being of residents through effective clinical practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Governance & Compliance
- Ensure the home operates in compliance with CQC Fundamental Standards, Health & Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014, and other relevant legislation.
- Maintain high clinical standards, implementing policies and procedures to support safe and effective care delivery.
- Monitor, audit, and improve clinical performance, ensuring continuous quality improvement.
- Oversee medication management, ensuring safe administration, storage, and record-keeping in line with NICE guidelines.
- Report safeguarding concerns, incidents, and complaints, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
- Leadership & Staff Management
- Provide strong leadership, supervision, and mentorship to nurses and care staff.
- Conduct regular staff training, appraisals, and competency assessments to maintain a highly skilled workforce.
- Support retention of nursing and care staff.
- Lead Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) Meetings, ensuring collaborative working between healthcare professionals.
- Resident Care & Well-being
- Ensure person-centered care plans are developed, implemented, and regularly reviewed.
- Promote a dignified, compassionate, and inclusive approach to care.
- Work closely with families and external stakeholders to maintain transparency and engagement in care decisions.
- Oversee infection prevention and control measures in line with UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) guidelines.
- Operational & Strategic Development
- Contribute to the home's strategic planning, supporting the Home Manager in achieving business objectives.
- Monitor and manage staffing levels, and resources to ensure efficient operation.
- Stay updated with clinical best practices and legislative changes, implementing new initiatives where appropriate.
Qualifications & Experience
- Registered Nurse (RGN/RMN/RNLD) with a valid NMC PIN.
- Minimum 3 years of nursing experience, preferably within a nursing home or elderly care setting.
- Prior leadership or management experience in a clinical role.
- Strong understanding of CQC regulations, safeguarding, and clinical governance.
- Experience in audit processes and risk management.
