The Trustees at Victorious Academies Trust would like to appoint a Midday Assistant at Discovery Academy, Hyde. Our Trust’s vision is to support young people to develop the aspiration and motivation to be successful; we have high ambitions for all young people in our schools and all roles within our Trust are central to ensuring that we work to support this.
Midday Assistants assist pupils during the lunch break, working as part of a team, including:
- Supervising welfare, behaviour and safety
- Ensuring a clean and tidy environment
- Controlling pupil behaviour in line with the Academy’s behaviour policy
- Dealing with any misbehaviour and liaising with the teaching staff accordingly
- Attending to pupils who may be sick or injured
- Raising any concerns in terms of welfare and safety to the Principal
Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring that the lunch session is controlled and pupils are managed in terms of behaviour and safety
- Looking after the welfare of the pupils in connection with hygiene, table manners, general behaviour
- Maintaining a safe and hygienic environment
- Dealing with hazards to prevent accidents
- Supervising the safety of children at all times
- Making Senior Leaders/Headteacher aware of any issues or accidents
- Supervising and engaging the children in purposeful play and activities once they leave the dining hall
- Administering First Aid if necessary (training provided)
- Attending any training, which the Headteacher may consider appropriate to the role
- Carrying out any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Headteacher relating to the supervision of children
You will be an effective part of the Academy team. You will:
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Participate in training sessions as required

The role will be for 1.25 hours per day, Monday to Friday, term time only. The salary is TMBC Grade A Point 3. This role is until 18 June 2027 or on the return of the postholder, whichever is sooner.
