Senior Research Associate | Bioanalytical Assays

Discover International is supporting an innovative biotechnology company developing next-generation medicines. We are looking for a laboratory scientist with strong ELISA experience to join its bioanalytical team.

This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys practical experimental work and wants to broaden their experience in assay development, validation and regulated clinical sample analysis. You will generate data that helps evaluate the biological activity and immune responses associated with novel therapeutics.

What you’ll do

  • Perform ligand binding and cell-based assays to support development programmes.
  • Contribute to method development, optimisation and validation.
  • Analyse clinical samples using approved procedures and quality standards.
  • Prepare critical reagents, interpret experimental results and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Maintain accurate electronic laboratory records and contribute to SOPs and technical reports.

What we’re looking for

  • Hands-on industry experience performing ELISA assays, ideally with the MSD platform.
  • Experience working within a regulated laboratory under GLP, GCP, GCLP or GMP.
  • At least 1–2 years of relevant experience in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals or a CRO.
  • A relevant degree in biological sciences or a related discipline.
  • Strong experimental discipline, attention to detail and clear communication.

Experience with PK, anti-drug antibody or neutralising antibody assays would be beneficial. Training is available for candidates with a strong foundation in regulated immunoassay work.

The opportunity

  • Initial six-month contract, with the possibility of extension.
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • Fully onsite in Oxfordshire.
  • Inside IR35, with hourly pay discussed according to experience.

You will work directly with senior scientists, receiving practical training and guidance as you build confidence in bioanalytical methods. This offers scope to strengthen your technical skills, learn to troubleshoot complex assays and take on greater responsibility as your experience grows.
