We are supporting a well-established pharmaceutical manufacturing site and looking for an Automation Engineer to support manufacturing operations across production, packaging, utilities and site improvement projects.
Responsibilities
- Provide automation and controls support across manufacturing, and packaging equipment.
- Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, SCADA and control system issues to minimise downtime.
- Support fault finding, root cause analysis and equipment performance improvement.
- Work on automation upgrades, line improvements, obsolescence projects and small CAPEX initiatives.
- Modify and maintain PLC/HMI software in line with site change control procedures.
- Support automated systems linked to batching, mixing, filling, labelling, inspection and packaging.
- Work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, Validation and external vendors.
- Ensure automation work is completed in line with GMP, EHS and data integrity expectations.
- Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, qualification and handover of new or upgraded equipment.
- Maintain technical documentation, backups, drawings and control system records.
Requirements
- Automation or controls engineering experience within pharmaceutical, FMCG, chemical, food, personal care or regulated manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems and industrial networks.
- Experience with Siemens or Allen-Bradley/Rockwell automation platforms would be highly relevant.
- Good understanding of automated production, filling, packaging, labelling, inspection or process equipment.
- Ability to fault-find across electrical, controls and instrumentation systems.
- Experience working in a GMP, hygienic or regulated manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of change control, documentation, risk assessments and validation principles.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with a practical, hands-on approach.
