The business is entering a key phase of growth and is looking for a Chief Scientific Officer to lead its scientific direction and translate platform capabilities into a focused, high-value pipeline. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who can operate comfortably between strategy and execution, and who enjoys building teams and shaping programmes from an early stage.
Responsibilities
- Set the overall scientific strategy and ensure alignment with company objectives and timelines
- Lead discovery and early development activities, from target selection through to preclinical readiness
- Oversee core platform technologies, including antibody discovery, engineering, and optimisation
- Prioritise and progress a pipeline of programmes with clear technical and commercial rationale
- Build and mentor a small, high-calibre scientific team as the organisation scales
- Establish and manage external collaborations with CROs, academic groups, and partners
- Work closely with the executive team on business planning, partnering opportunities, and investor communications
- Provide scientific input into regulatory and CMC strategy
Experience
- PhD in a relevant life sciences discipline
- Significant industry experience in biologics or antibody-based therapeutics
- Track record of advancing programmes from early discovery into development
- Experience leading teams in a biotech or pharma setting
- Strong understanding of drug discovery workflows and translational science
