A specialist manufacturer providing solutions for civil and construction projects, with a focus on performance, reliability and long term value is searching for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to support ongoing production and maintenance activity across the UK industrial plant. This is a hands-on role within a close-knit engineering team, working a rotating shift pattern and contributing to both reactive and planned maintenance. The site operates a range of bespoke machinery, with a strong emphasis on extrusion and heavy process equipment.
The Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer role:
- You will be responsible for maintaining plant and equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation in line with production needs and statutory requirements.
- The work is varied and practical, involving fault finding, repair, and preventative maintenance across a range of systems.
- Responding to breakdowns across mechanical and electrical systems.
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and compliance checks.
- Supporting installation work and site improvement projects.
- Lean Six Sigma operation.
- Recording all work carried out, including parts used and job notes, via the SAP maintenance system.
- Communicating clearly with colleagues across shifts to ensure continuity of work.
- Contributing to the wider upkeep of the site, including shared systems such as cooling towers.
The role sits within a two engineer shift structure, on a continuous process, with shared responsibility for keeping the plant running effectively. The maintenance approach is increasingly focused on preventative activity.
Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer experience:
- Working experience of extrusion lines and polymer handling systems, large motors, pumps and gearboxes, rotating machinery, hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Temperature control systems and associated instrumentation.
- Solid understanding of how materials are handled, dosed and fed through production.
- This role would suit a multi-skilled engineer with a solid industrial background who is comfortable working across a variety of machinery and can take a practical, methodical approach to fault finding.
- Electrical competence, particularly around: Safe isolation, motors and drives.
- Experience within the plastics industry, or working with extrusion processes, would be particularly useful.
- Experience with control systems such as Siemens is useful, but this is not a controls led role.
Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer approach:
- Proactive with a positive can-do attitude.
- Passionate to be supportive cross-functionally.
- Clear and consistent in communication.
- Interested in developing skills and contributing to continual improvements on site.
If this aligns with your experience and approach, I would welcome a conversation.
