An established engineering manufacturer is looking to appoint an International Business Development Manager to take commercial sales responsibility for key European territories: France, Benelux, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Turkey and Greece. This is a substantial regional brief. You will inherit active markets and an existing customer base, but the emphasis is firmly on development, identifying where further opportunity lies, strengthening representation and building sustainable, profitable growth across mainland Europe.
The role:
- Strengthen and grow European sales market share through proactive business development.
- Develop and expand a portfolio of customers across your territories.
- Prospect actively and convert opportunities into secured sales.
- Manage margins through structured, value based sales.
- Oversee and strengthen the existing agent network, appointing new agents representatives where needed.
- Conduct market and competitor analysis to identify growth opportunities.
- Work closely with internal technical and sales teams to deliver commercially sound solutions.
- Represent the business at trade exhibitions.
About you:
- You will hold a degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (or similar) with strong commercial awareness.
- A proven track record in B2B export sales of technical, high value equipment.
- The ability to open and develop new markets.
- Sound commercial judgement and negotiation and entrepreneurial skills.
- Resilience and independence in managing a wide geographical territory.
- Experience within a technical environment i.e. food & beverage, pharmaceutical, agriculture or chemical processing environments.
- Ability to operate independently and build markets from prospect through to order.
- Strong negotiation skills, drive, influence and commercial judgement.
- Fluent English is essential, alongside additional fluency in Spanish, French or Italian.
