The Role - Project Mechanical Design Engineer
Working closely with colleagues across engineering, manufacturing and projects, you will be responsible for producing accurate, high-quality mechanical designs and engineering documentation for customer projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Producing detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor and SolidWorks.
- Creating comprehensive manufacturing and assembly documentation for internal production and external suppliers.
- Designing practical, robust mechanical solutions that are fit for manufacture and assembly.
- Liaising with customers, suppliers and colleagues to ensure technical requirements are fully understood and achieved.
- Reviewing designs to ensure accuracy, compliance and adherence to engineering standards.
- Managing multiple design projects while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and meeting agreed deadlines.
- Supporting continuous improvements that enhance engineering quality and manufacturing efficiency.
About You
You will be an experienced Project Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong understanding of design for manufacture and a meticulous approach to producing engineering drawings.
Accuracy matters to you. You appreciate that every dimension, tolerance and annotation has a purpose and that well produced drawings are fundamental to successful manufacturing.
As a Project Mechanical Design Engineer you will ideally have:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- A minimum of five years to 10 years experience within a mechanical design engineering environment.
- Experience managing and delivering multi projects within time frames.
- A sound understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering best practice.
- The ability to interpret technical specifications and develop practical engineering solutions.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to work collaboratively across multiple departments.
- Permanent right to work in the UK.
