Astute’s Renewables team is exclusively partnering with a key player in the UK’s Biogas sector to recruit an Assistant Plant Manager for their business. I’m looking for an Assistant Plant Manager with anaerobic digestion experience, ideally, but if not from an anaerobic digestion or biogas background, those who have experience running a process facility are also encouraged to apply.

The Assistant Plant Manager role comes with a salary dependent on your level and will be discussed upon application.

Responsibilities and duties

  • Deputise for the Plant Manager in their absence
  • Run the site on a day-to-day basis, assisting the Plant Manager where required
  • Health and safety management of the staff, alongside the Plant Manager
  • Mentoring the Operators and shift teams to better themselves and to upskill them where you can
  • Ensure that all plant activities are documented and monitor KPIs and performance levels
  • Managing external relationships with the EA, Ofgem as well as third-party contractors
  • Monitoring and adjusting RAMS where required
  • Use and interrogate the SCADA system to run the plant and look for efficiency improvements
  • Other duties as required

Professional qualifications

  • A higher level education in an engineering discipline is desirable
  • Anaerobic Digestion experience
  • Experience running a process facility, if not AD
  • UK driving licence is required
  • Any additional qualifications in HSE or similar are advantageous
