We are looking for a skilled and reliable Laundry Operative / Garment Care Specialist to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in professional laundry services, including wet cleaning and operating specialised machinery.
We work with a wide range of items and materials, including all types of textiles, bags, shoes (suede and leather), hats, jackets (puffer jackets, suit jackets, etc.), suits, bedding, blouses and dresses (silk and non-silk), and selected types of curtains. Our work focuses on restoring items following flood or fire damage, returning them to a pre-loss condition wherever possible. High-level pressing and finishing skills are essential for this role. This includes suit pressing, steam usage, garment shaping, and professional finishing techniques. Precision, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of different fabrics are crucial. All other aspects of the role can be supported with training; however, excellent pressing ability is a core requirement.
Responsibilities
- Operate industrial laundry equipment, including industrial washing machines (Miele and Esporta), tumble dryers, trouser presses, and garment finishing equipment.
- Carry out wet cleaning processes on a variety of delicate and complex garments.
- Inspect garments for stains, damage, and specific cleaning requirements prior to processing.
- Handle garments with care to ensure the highest quality finish and prevent damage.
- Monitor machine cycles and make adjustments as required to achieve optimal results.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in line with health and safety standards.
- Assist with other laundry-related tasks as required by the supervisor/manager.
