About the Artist
The Artist is a multi-award-winning actor, singer, writer, composer and director whose career spans more than two decades across theatre, music, radio/audio and writing. She has performed leading roles for major national companies, including world premieres, on some of the UK's most prestigious stages and concert platforms. As a Disabled artist, she brings lived experience, artistic rigour and a distinctive voice to everything she makes. She is currently developing an ambitious new digitally immersive musical work, supported by major national arts funders.
The role
The Creative Producer / Creative Access Manager sits alongside the existing Support Worker team, providing producing, project management and fundraising, as well as Creative Access Management as a support worker. Fundraising is a significant part of this role: identifying funding opportunities, writing applications and building lasting relationships with funders, so that the Artist's work is properly resourced now and into the future.
You will act as a trusted thinking partner, identifying where projects, partnerships, commissions, publications, productions, media opportunities and future ambitions intersect, and holding and amplifying the Artist's established national profile with accuracy and pride. This position exists to provide parity. Structured, high-level access support enables the Artist to work at the same professional standard and visibility as her peers. Access support levels the playing field.
We are looking for someone who is trauma-informed and whose emotional literacy is equal to their professional skill. You will hold artistry and access together without flattening either, and move easily between the detail of the moment and the shape of the whole.
Key responsibilities
- Lead on fundraising: writing funding applications and managing relationships with funders
- Weekly one-to-one 'talk-to-think' sessions as the Artist's trusted thinking partner
- Management oversight of the Artist's annual Access to Work grant: forecasting, invoices and approvals
- Senior-level support with correspondence and relationship strategy, using two dedicated email accounts provided for the role
- Coordinate the Artist's access team and creative collaborators, including recruitment
- Maintain, update and circulate the Artist's Access Rider
- Hold a strategic overview of all strands of work; develop new projects and partnerships
- Issue contracts and liaise with venues and partners
- Manage cashflow and project budgets drawn from a number of funding bodies, including making payments on behalf of the Artist
- Coordinate production using Asana, and lead evaluation and funder reporting
About you
- A minimum of 8 years' experience in arts management
- Significant experience in leadership, creative producing, partnerships or organisational growth
- Experience of, or ambition to work across, both subsidised and commercial producing
- A demonstrable track record of securing funding for creative projects
- Strategic and practical thinking, with initiative and clarity
- A strong understanding of the arts, culture, media, publishing and creative industries
- Excellent relationship-building skills and established industry networks
- Confidence working with complexity and ambiguity
- Experience translating complex creative projects into clear, compelling stories
- An understanding of Disability, access, barriers and inclusive working practices, including the Social Model of Disability
- Emotionally intelligent, proactive and trauma-literate, able to collaborate as an equal with a high-level, established Disabled artist
