Learning Programme Manager in Glasgow

LUX Scotland are recruiting for the role of Learning Programme Manager. We are seeking an experienced project manager who is passionate about the work of LUX Scotland, and our commitment to support, develop and promote artists’ moving image across the country.

The Learning Programme Manager is responsible for the management and delivery of LUX Scotland’s learning programme that provides professional development opportunities for artists including artist-led workshops, advice sessions, an annual weekend residential event and a series of online learning resources. The Learning Programme Manager works closely with the core team in the Glasgow office (Director, Public Programme Manager and two Project Managers). Within a collaborative working environment, the Learning Programme Manager also contributes to the development of our wider organisational work.

• CONTRACT: Permanent Contract (with 6‑month probation period). Ideally starting in October 2026.
• RESPONSIBLE TO: LUX Scotland Director
• RESPONSIBLE FOR: Management and delivery of LUX Scotland’s Learning Programme
• HOURS: 3 days a week (21 hours) including some evening and weekend work with time off in lieu. Hybrid working on request.
• SALARY: £32,640 pro-rata
• PENSION: 5% employer contribution (with 3% employee contribution)
• HOLIDAY: 25 days per year plus statutory holidays with an increase of 1 day per year worked up to a maximum of 30 days in total.
• LOCATION: Based at the LUX Scotland office, Civic House, 26 Civic Street, Glasgow, G4 9RH. The role involves some travel to deliver learning programme events at partner venues across Scotland with occasional travel to the London office, Waterlow Park Centre, London N19 5JF.

Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)

• Work closely with the Director to conceive, organise and deliver LUX Scotland’s Learning Programme, in line with LUX Scotland’s business plan.
• Represent the organisation and host events in person and online as a regular ongoing part of the programme.
• Be responsible for all associated event organisation and administration.
• Take responsibility for specific projects, as directed by the LUX Scotland Director.
• Provide production support to artists for specific projects.
• Monitor, maintain and report on project budgets, as directed by the LUX Scotland Director.
• Liaise with the Project Manager (Finance & Operations) on financial administration.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with other institutions and peers for collaborative projects.
• Contribute to the research and development of future programmes, contributing ideas to team programme planning discussions and building on potential crossovers between the various strands of LUX Scotland’s activities.
• Work with the Project Manager (Communications) to develop the audience development strategy that expands audiences for the Learning Programme in line with the ambitions set out in the Business Plan.
• Support LUX Scotland’s commitment to creating equal access for participants and audiences, including creative access initiatives (closed captioning/subtitles, live captioning, audio description, etc.) and outreach to specific groups such as d/Deaf and hard of hearing, blind and visually impaired, and Disabled audiences.
• Support LUX Scotland’s commitment to anti-racism across all areas of work.

Fundraising & Evaluation

• Support the LUX Scotland Director in researching and identifying potential sources of funding and strategies for earned income to support LUX Scotland’s Learning Programme.
• Prepare funding proposals and reports, and liaise with funders, as directed by the LUX Scotland Director.
• Work with the Project Manager (Communications) to develop the evaluation strategy for the Learning Programme in line with the ambitions set out in the Business Plan.

Communications

• Work closely with the rest of the LUX Scotland team to ensure effective communication of the programme to national and international audiences.
• Regularly maintain and update the LUX Scotland website Learning Programme pages.
• Contribute to press releases for exhibitions and other major projects.
• Liaise with partner organisations on cross-promotion marketing activity.

General

• Follow company health and safety policies and procedures at all times.
• Any other duties as reasonably requested by the LUX Scotland Director.

Person Specification

Essential

• 3 years’ experience of project management and delivery
• Excellent team working skills
• Strong communication skills
• Experience of preparing and managing budgets
• Experience of preparing, submitting and reporting on funding applications
• Flexible and collaborative approach to work
• Good understanding of equity, inclusion and diversity, with the commitment to applying these in practice
• Knowledge of and interest in contemporary art and artists’ moving image practice

Desirable

• Confident using a range of digital systems and platforms
• Experience of working with artists
• Experience of hosting a range of groups in person and online
