Paines Plough is looking for an actor to play Dante in an R&D of Quicksand, a play by Corey Weekes. The R&D will be directed by Corey Campbell, Artistic Director of the Belgrade Theatre.
Dante is male, 27, of mixed Bajan and English heritage and from Perry Barr, Birmingham. Dante has lower-body paralysis and is a wheelchair user.
We are looking for:
- A male actor who can play mid-to-late twenties
- A mixed-heritage actor who can authentically represent Black Caribbean and white British parentage
- A wheelchair user, including someone who uses a wheelchair full-time, part-time or intermittently
- Someone who can authentically perform a contemporary Birmingham accent
- Desirable: someone based in Birmingham or the Midlands, or with a Midlands base
- Dates: 9–13 November 2026
- Venue: Birmingham Hippodrome
- Fee: £631, plus pension and holiday pay if applicable
- Additional access-support budget available
