Social Personal Assistant 2:1 support – 2 vacancies
Hours: 10 hours per week term time including after school support and weekends; 20 hours per week school holidays including weekends.
Area: Gosforth, Newcastle Upon Tyne.
Rate: £14.00 per hour.
Driver with full clean UK licence essential.
Driver requires a full clean UK driving licence and business insurance.
About the child
Leo is an 8‑year‑old boy with Non‑Verbal Autism & ADHD who requires full supervision. He has no awareness of danger and will run at every opportunity. Leo is non‑verbal and communicates primarily through hand gestures. He needs a routine and coping strategies to manage dysregulation. He has a specialist wheelchair fitted with a harness for community access. Leo enjoys sensory activities such as spinning, swimming, adapted bike riding and visits to local parks or SEND centres. He is food‑sensitive; sugar‑based food and drinks must be avoided due to adverse behavioural effects.
Responsibilities
Support Leo in accessing the local community, including accompanying and supporting him to engage in his chosen activities.
Maintain routine to prevent dysregulation and implement coping strategies to ensure his safety.
Provide personal care and toilet assistance, including after‑toilet cleaning.
Ensure safe transportation, using a vehicle with appropriate security harness.
Qualifications and requirements
Experience working with children with autism and ADHD.
Ability to demonstrate strategies and coping mechanisms for managing dysregulation and preventing self‑harm.
Full clean UK driving licence and vehicle insurance.
Willingness to accommodate sensory and dietary needs.
Permission to work in the U.K. at the time of starting employment.
