Social Care Personal Assistant – BSTNCL

Hours: 6 hours during term time and up to 10 hours during holiday time

Location: Kenton, Newcastle upon Tyne

Rate: £13.00 per hour

Our son Brandon is 15 years old and enjoys playing on his PS4 and Nintendo Switch, with favorites including Fortnite, Minecraft, and Super Mario, especially Luigi. Brandon is a friendly and bubbly boy who takes time to trust new people, so initial efforts will focus on building a positive relationship.

Brandon experienced a brain infection that affected his nerves, impacting his speech, mobility, feeding, and toileting. He can communicate orally and has a peg for fluid top-ups. He is incontinent and uses a pubic catheter, with a regular routine. Personal care assistance may be needed occasionally, but training will be provided.

He uses a wheelchair but is currently averse to community outings. Brandon sets daily goals to regain previous skills. Ideally, the PA would be a gamer with similar interests, enthusiastic, and genuinely interested in working with children.

The role involves providing social support, assisting Brandon in achieving his goals, and ensuring his safety at all times.

This position requires a satisfactory DBS check and references, which will be obtained if you are offered the role.
