Driver with own vehicle essential

Jacob is a happy 16 year old with Down’s Syndrome. He has a big personality and a great sense of humour. He loves the cinema and swimming, music, shopping for balloons, and trampolining and swings. He also likes chilling at home with his favourite films, favourite toys and a quiet companion.

Jacob uses Makaton signs with some words, and he likes to make friends with his PAs. He has a good way of relating to people. He lives with mum and dad, two brothers and our small dog.

We are looking for a PA to take Jacob out and about and to join in family times at home as an extra pair of hands, so that he has a good time and mum and dad can have a break together. Jacob has David Lloyd gym membership for swimming and goes to the cinema most weekends – his PA will have a free carer’s pass.

Jacob would like a PA who can take him out and about for an afternoon each weekend, and join him at home to help out and be a friend to him one evening a week. In the school holidays the evening could switch to an afternoon so that Jacob has more opportunities to go out. Some flexibility between the PA and family will be offered, and we will consider a job share.

Jacob’s PA will need to assist with personal care tasks including dressing, bath time, changing nappies and colostomy bag, and tube feeding a prepared blended diet (full training will be given at home by Jacob’s mum).

A driver with own car is essential and mileage/parking costs will be covered
