2 x 4 hours per week including weekends (to be arranged) in Byker, Newcastle Upon Tyne at £12.40 per hour.

Lucas is a lively, inquisitive 6-year-old boy who has autism. He lives with his parents and sibling in Byker and attends a specialist school in Newcastle along with his brother. Lucas is looking for a personal assistant to accompany and support him to access the local community and activities of his choice.

Lucas loves to go trampolining and soft play; he craves motion and movement play. He would really enjoy accessing the local parks and adventure playgrounds but must always be supervised as he is quite the escape artist if left unattended and has no awareness of danger. Lucas likes “cause and effect” toys, especially light-up ones.

He will require personal care whilst in your care, is non-verbal, and communicates with gestures and noises. To be Lucas’s personal assistant, you must have experience working with children with autism and challenging behaviours. You need to be resilient, with a good level of fitness as Lucas is a strong, sturdy young boy. Lucas uses a buggy for most outings. A car driver would be preferred but is not essential.

This vacancy will close as soon as a suitable candidate is appointed. At the time of starting their employment, the successful candidate must have permission to work in the U.K.
