Job purpose: To assist with a variety of tasks which will enable the young person who needs care and support to live their personal and social life according to their wishes and interests.
About the young person requiring support: I’m looking for a Personal Assistant to support Baley, my 17‑year‑old son who is full of energy, laughter, and a love for life. Baley enjoys trampolining, swimming, visiting the park, and going to fun fairs and arcades. Baley has a fantastic sense of humour, loves joking around, and enjoys being a grown‑up. At home, Baley enjoys playing football and darts and spending time on the computer or watching YouTube.
Baley requires one‑to‑one support at all times due to a lack of road awareness and needs personal care assistance when using the toilet. Baley has hypermobility, prefers to walk but has a limp, and can tire when walking long distances. Communication is limited, and Baley uses Makaton to express his needs and wants. While Baley eats a normal diet, food needs to be cut up. Baley also loves walking our family dog, so it would be great if the PA enjoys this too.
The ideal PA will have experience working with disabled children and should have a happy, bubbly personality that matches Baley’s fun‑loving nature. Most importantly, I’m looking for someone who can provide a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where Baley can continue to thrive.
Application information: For more information, please see the Job Description. This vacancy will close as soon as a suitable candidate is appointed. At the time of starting their employment, the successful candidate must have permission to work in the U.K.
