  • Overview

We are currently recruiting for an experienced personal assistant to assist a lovely, friendly 16‑year‑old young gentleman who has Autism and a Learning Disability.

Ayyub lives with his mum and siblings in the Fenham area of Newcastle and regularly attends a specialist school which he enjoys.

Ayyub is non‑verbal and understands much more than he can communicate, he can use one‑word language or very short sentences to communicate his needs, desires and emotions.

Routine and structure is very important to Ayyub, and due to sensory sensitivities, Ayyub can become dysregulated if it becomes too noisy, or crowded.

Sensory fidgets and toys are used regularly to assist with regulation, you will know when Ayyub is becoming upset as he will refuse to engage.

Ayyub loves arts and crafts, especially play dough and colouring books; he is extremely good at reading too.

He has a passion for all things musical and is very good at identifying a vast array of instruments and the sounds they produce.

Ayyub is looking for a PA who can accompany him to his chosen venues or activities, including local parks, swimming pools and activity centres like Tim Lamb or Alan Shearer Centre.

He enjoys going to the trampoline park and the beach in the summer.

Ayyub enjoys nature so a visit to the local nature reserves would be a great place for Ayyub to explore.

Ayyub can eat independently and enjoys dining out at Certified Halal restaurants; all food consumed must be Halal based, and it is extremely important that you adhere to this.

Personal care will be required in this role for toileting needs, but only to prompt and ensure Ayyub uses the toilet.
